So this island sits in Lake Huron between Michigan’s upper and lower peninsula. The Mackinac Strait divides Lake Michigan and Lake Huron. We ferried across with our bikes because no cars are allowed on the island. Travel on the island‘s 8 mile perimeter or the trails and small roads within is all done by horse and buggy or bicycle. The little Main Street has shops for the tourist and is known for their fudge. Just one street is busy with horses and bikes, all others are easily seen on our bikes.
