The Erie Canal opened in the area near Mohawk River in 1825. We rode down a tow path of the canal connector and the the Erie Canal itself! I have always wanted to ride and kayak the Erie Canal. It was a total of 400 miles long and changed our country. We rose by historic lock 19 today. It looks like it was used as a continuance along the Mohawk River.
